"The Deadly Bears" 3-Piece Art Collection
The assemblage features elements of the 1990's poster culture — Fangoria and Slam Magazine, the pre-eminent horror and hoops publications in the world — intersected with today's thirst for grailed sneakers. Remixing the palette of the psych-rock band 'Grateful Dead' and the Nike SB's, inspired by the 1973 album cover 'History of the Grateful Dead, Volume One (Bear's Choice),' and the stylized "Marching Bears" that graced it, adding a synchronistic twist to this graphic mash-up.
Curated by Vanguard Toronto in honour of the prestigious Orangeville program and it's illustrious alum's. The design is part pop art, part poster pin-up, and all Toronto born artist Anthony "Tone" Burke's trademark potent, graphic and ghoulish illustrative style. From the blue arrows shots at "The King" to the beasting against "The Beard," each illustration alludes to these fearless feats as well as the Halloween season's ghastly delight.
A total of three prints are found in this ultra-limited 18"x24" 1-of-1 print collection, with each issued on 100% Cotton Rag, Acid-Free, Lignon Free, 255 GSM Somerset Velvet. This three-man weave of art, ball and culture design is available in Nike SB's inspired iterations — fittingly "Opti Yellow/Blue Fury" for Jamal, "Green Spark/Soar" for Kyle and the "Opti Orange/Green Fury" colorway for Lugentz.
